Discover our highly certified products engineered specifically to meet the robust structural and optical demands of modern infrastructure operations.
Established in 2003, Austar Lighting Co., Ltd. is recognized as one of the most developed and innovative manufacturers of public, highway, and industrial lighting in Ningbo, China. Occupying a state-of-the-art 10,000㎡ production facility and backed by a staff of over 100 lighting professionals, our annual production capacity exceeds 150,000 pieces.
By collaborating directly with Italian lighting designers, we maintain an progressive, contemporary aesthetic combined with cutting-edge optical performance. 100% of our products are exported globally, covering more than 55 countries and regions.
To ensure our luminaires exceed rigorous global expectations, we operate a highly specialized laboratory environment equipped with advanced testing machines:

Tunnel lighting is unique compared to typical highway lighting. Drivers entering a tunnel at highway speeds encounter extreme transitions in luminance levels, giving rise to dangerous visual phenomena known as the "Black Hole Effect". During bright daylight, the luminance outside a tunnel entrance can exceed 5,000 to 10,000 cd/m². If the interior entrance zone is not illuminated with sufficient intensity, the driver’s eyes cannot adapt rapidly enough. The entrance appears as a dark, unresolvable void, masking critical road hazards, stalled vehicles, or debris.
To neutralize the Black Hole Effect, engineering standards like the CIE 88:2004 guidelines divide tunnel lighting zones into five distinct segments:
At Austar Lighting, our optical engineers build asymmetric beam angles specifically to project luminous flux in the direction of traffic flow, optimizing vehicular contrast (Counter-Beam Lighting) and ensuring maximum safety.
Tunnels are highly corrosive, humid, and vibration-prone environments. The constant exhaust emissions from diesel engines combined with humidity create sulfuric and nitric acids, which rapidly degrade standard luminaires. Furthermore, maintenance crews clean tunnel walls using high-pressure water jets and rotating industrial brushes containing chemical detergents.
To survive these conditions, Austar's LED tunnel lighting housings are crafted from high-pressure die-cast aluminum alloys treated with electro-statically applied thermosetting powder coatings. This delivers superior resistance categorized under the C5-M (Marine) and C5-I (Industrial) corrosion classes.
Our enclosures achieve certified IP66 ingress protection, preventing high-pressure water ingress, and IK09/IK10 mechanical impact ratings, assuring structural safety against physical shock and maintenance operations. Advanced pressure equalization valves (breathable membranes) prevent condensation buildup inside the optics chamber, which is caused by rapid diurnal temperature fluctuations common in underground transit sectors.
Unlike streetlights that run purely on sunset/sunrise schedules, tunnel lighting must be active 24/7. However, keeping tunnel entrance luminaires at 100% capacity at midnight is highly wasteful. Smart systems utilize external photo-sensors (Luminance Meters) to gauge real-time ambient sunlight, continuously transmitting dimming commands to the internal LED drivers.
Our driver ecosystems support DALI-2, 0-10V, and wireless LoRa networks. By modulating current inputs to match daylight intensity, operators can capture energy savings of up to 45% compared to static installations. Furthermore, our drivers feature programmable Constant Lumen Output (CLO) functions, compensating for the gradual aging of the LED chips over their 100,000-hour life cycle.
Operating out of Ningbo, one of China's primary manufacturing and logistical epicenters, Austar Lighting integrates the entire production cycle. The localized supply chain allows us to maintain direct control over die-casting molds, precision tooling, SMT assembly lines, and mechanical testing labs.
We utilize specialized 1000T, 700T, and 300T high-pressure die-casting equipment. This allows us to scale manufacturing rapidly, delivering complete batches for major governmental tenders while offering custom OEM/ODM solutions within a 1-month turn-around window. Geographically, our proximity to both Ningbo Port and Shanghai Port guarantees direct global distribution routes, bypassing domestic delays and minimizing carbon footprints in transport.
We work in strict compliance with ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 Quality and Environmental Management Systems. Before any luminaire is shipped to international engineering hubs, it undergoes rigorous qualification:
All products bear recognized certification marks, including ENEC, CB, CE, and LVD, guaranteeing full regulatory alignment in European Union member states and beyond.
